Another Time
And Place

In another time perhaps
another place,
our souls traveled their own paths,
but our fates were such
that each path was not the same.

Fate ever changing had new
plans,
choosing instead to cross our journeys.
Each soul knowing times of trouble,
reaching, searching for a better place.

Loves tattered heart, torn and hurt,
but still hope dared to cling
living below the near,
was the joy still alive?

Disbelieving at first,
the tentative gentle hand
reached out between the words,
to dare to feel, to want again,
such frightening concepts these,
such pain could linger close by,
but still the gentle way was there.

So chances are taken,
small steps at first at these,
the souls grow closer slowly at first,
until love shows the path,
each in the others hands,
trusting now where once was only fear,
though still awe stuck fate has made it clear.

Time is long for souls to travel,
journeys long remain,
but soul to soul the path will clear,
for hope will nourish the heart,
and on those nights when darkness calls,
each soul will find the other,
from that knowledge will strength come.

And someday the travels may be the same,
many years from now,
but now the time is precious, slight, and few,
resting in the others love,
the two souls will know peace.
